Facts at A Glance
Guilt-free, luxury living is no problem at Tiamo, where nature rules. Firm ecological principles underpin everything to ensure minimal disruption to the natural world with forward-thinking, ingenious use of natural resources.
All eleven cottages are built from sustainable pine and raised on stilts with wraparound verandahs to maximise natural ventilation and cooling. The thatch used on the roofs was collected by the local church and children and provides great natural insulation, moderating temperatures and cottages are screened for shade and privacy by mature trees and tropical planting. Almost all energy used at Tiamo is generated on site by solar panels and reclaimed glass and driftwood are used in bathrooms throughout the resort. The resort's plentiful hot water is heated by direct sunlight. Fresh fruit, vegetables and salad are grown for the resort in the kitchen gardens at Tiamo.
Tiamo has fast become the first choice for eco-travellers with a taste for real barefoot luxury. Chic eco-warriors here prefer a batik kaftan and a hammock to a hair shirt. You will find that knowing the resort's eco-credentials are unquestionable simply adds to the pleasure of your experience.
