Facts at A Glance

The worlds deepest bedroom! You can sleep 155 metres underground in an underground suite in historic Sala Silvermine, one of the world’s best preserved mine settings. Here you will see dark winding galleries, vast caverns and magic lakes. Even to those not familiar with mining, the underground setting is sensational. It is cold, damp and dark, but very beautiful.

Experienced guides tell you of a fantastic chapter in industrial history. During its heyday, production amounted to more than 3 tons of silver a year, and a total of more than 400 tons of silver and about 40,000 tons of lead were extracted - completely by hand!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Clothing:
Make sure to be wearing warm and comfortable clothes for the guided tour. It is only 2 degrees Celsius, all year round! But don't worry, the festivity hall and suite are warmed up to 18 degrees and the bed is equipped with a thick cover and an extra pair of blankets.

One of our staff is available for you above ground during the whole night. You will be given an intercom radio through which you can communicate with this person. Mobile phones do not work at 155 m underground. Should you expect to be contacted by someone, please ask them to ring the mine's general phone number. That way we can ensure that you will be able to get in contact. In the morning one of guides comes and serves your breakfast. After breakfast you will be taken to ground level again.

Bathroom:
A simple toilet is available at about 50 m from the festivity hall. Showers are availble in the Sala Silvermine's Bed & Breakfast above ground.
