In 1985, Charles Keating had a vision: to combine the richness of traditional European elements with the kaleidoscope of color and intriguing style of the Southwest to create a multi-million-dollar, Five Diamond resort in stunning Scottsdale, Arizona. To bring his vision to life, Keating purchased the land at the base of Camelback Mountain – the most recognizable location in the Valley, providing dramatic views of the city skyline. Opening on October 1, 1988, the 250-acre resort is characterized by several exclusive landmarks, including the historic pueblo-inspired Jokake Inn, one of the area's first hotels, and a two-acre Cactus Garden.
