Nassau / Paradise Island

Nassau is the bustling hub of The Bahamas since the shipwrecking days of legendary pirate Blackbeard. Prized for its sheltered harbour, the city made history and preserved it beautifully in Victorian mansions, cathedrals, 18th century forthresses and a Queen’s Staircase whose 66 steps lead to a view not to be missed. Just 180 m northeast of Nassau is Paradise Island which is connected to the city by two bridges. You can find luxurious resorts, glittering casinos and exiting nightlife of Paradise Island. Only a 20-minute boat ride from downtown Nassau, you pass through a rocky cut into the world of the Blue Lagoon. It's immediately apparent why Hollywood filmmakers chose this scenic private island as a setting for movies such as Splash and Flipper. Across the lagoon is the Dolphin Encounter, where you can actually get in the water to pet and play with the dolphins.

Grand Bahama Island

Grand Bahama is one of the northernmost of the islands of the Bahamas, and the closest major island to the United States, lying just 90 km off the state of Florida. The resort area at Port Lucaya and visits by cruise ships provide the bulk of this activity. It has beautiful beaches and contains several big hotels. Freeport is the major city of Grand Bahama Island. It holds the commercial ship harbour and the main airport.

The Out Islands of The Bahamas

The islands of The Bahamas don’t stop only with Grand Bahama and Nassau/ Paradise Island. There are other islands called The Out Islands. They come in the form of small remote villages and a simple way of life. You will find some of the world’s most stunning beaches, dive sites, and fishing sites – a welcome surprise if you’re looking for that perfect mix of relaxation and adventure. Some of these islands are:
The Abacos: Known as “The Sailing Capital Of The World”. What makes them unique is the 120-mile-long stretch of cays and islands separated by the incredibly calm and mesmerizing turquoise-colored Sea of Abaco.
Andros: At 2,300 square miles, Andros is the largest island of The Bahamas and the fifth-largest island in the Caribbean. Andros’ waters are well known to scuba divers and snorkelers, thanks to the third-longest barrier reef in the world.
Bimini: Bimini is made up of two major islands that are rich with history and natural resources. The main tourist center is in Alice Town, in North Bimini.
The Exumas: The island’s enduring popularity is founded on its tropical greenery that stretches out to meet the warm, pink-hued sand beaches. Rows of century-old trees border narrow flower-lined streets. It’s a sight not to be missed.
Cat Island: With its pristine virgin beaches, Cat Island is one of the most beautiful islands in The Bahamas, and it is so little visited that it still feels undiscovered.
Inagua: Inagua is an ideal destination for travelers who are interested in ecotourism. The Inagua National Park is home to more than 80,000 flamingos and other exotic birds such as Bahama parrots, pelicans, herons, egrets and Bahama pintail ducks.
Rum Cay / San Salvador: Christopher Columbus made his first landfall on San Salvador Island during his historic voyage to the New World. The island is home to many monuments, ruins and shipwreck sites that directly reflect its rich history. It has miles of pristine and secluded beaches, and a crystal-clear sea.
